Overview

Sarafan ChEM-H is a hub of diverse, interdisciplinary research that brings together chemistry, engineering, and medicine to improve human health through exceptional faculty members hired through the institute known as Institute Scholars, collaborative labs or Knowledge Centers staffed by senior scientific experts, and major initiatives such as the Stanford Innovative Medicines Accelerator (IMA) and the Stanford Microbiome Therapies Initiative (MITI) that aim to translate groundbreaking discoveries into therapeutics.

Institute Scholars

Sarafan ChEM-H core faculty members, called Institute Scholars, lead discrete but highly interdisciplinary labs that build and deploy complex toolsets to solve complex problems in human health and disease.

Innovative Medicines Accelerator

In partnership with Stanford Medicine, Sarafan ChEM-H launched the Stanford Innovative Medicines Accelerator (IMA), an engine to transform Stanford discoveries into real therapeutics for patients.

Microbiome Therapies

The Microbiome Therapies Initiative (MITI) aims to develop tools to understand and manipulate the microbiome, the communities of microbes that live on and in us, to develop entirely new kinds of therapies.
